SCHEDULE

SPRING 2025 / Residency 1
March 1st through March 31st, 2025
This session begins with the early signs of spring with wild flowers and edibles starting to leaf out with the “new green” and animals and birds emerging from their winter pattern. Weather can include blustery storms but often broken by brilliant days of sunshine, with temps ranging from a low of 30’s to highs in the 50’s.

FALL 2025 / Residency 2
September 1st through September 30th, 2025
Fall will be in its full glory during this residency, with Salmon running up the river, the winds dying and temperatures of lows in the 50’s and highs in the upper 60’s. Big leaf maples and Alders will be dropping their leaves while the steadfast Sitka and Hemlock evergreens welcome the cool evenings. Wild mushrooms and Huckleberries will abound.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applications are reviewed by a selection committee. The entire list of applications is scored by each member of the committee, who review the artist statements and each work sample. In addition to the submitted work samples, members of the committee may also independently research the applicant’s work online and via their website, if provided.

The committee will then collectively decide on a select group of finalists who are then individually interviewed and ultimately awards two applicants per year. Chosen applicants will be notified personally and a letter of acceptance will include a contract, liability waiver, house rules, map, and helpful tips.

Please review the FAQ page for more information about the Skookum Wawa program and residence.

TIMING

Applicants should select their preferred residency time period based on their own preference and schedule. Every effort will be made to fit the applicant’s schedule, but we can’t guarantee that their preferred time period will be awarded to them.

If you are awarded a residency and for some reason are unable to attend, your residency will not be carried over to the next open application period, unless special arrangements have been made with the residency hosts.

Applications are accepted through the deadline date of midnight, Nov 15th and Incomplete applications cannot be reviewed.
